Start with a useful page for each real service

Local SEO helps people understand what you do, where you work and how to contact you. For a Quebec service business, start with clear descriptions of your actual services, the communities you can reach and examples of completed work. Write in the languages you can support, and keep the information consistent across your website and business listings.

A useful service page answers a prospective customer's first questions: what is included, who the service suits, how a quote works and what happens next. Add photos and project details you have permission to share. A city name repeated throughout a page is less helpful than explaining availability or showing relevant work.

Keep your Google Business Profile accurate

For an eligible business, verify your profile and maintain its category, contact details, hours and website. Use your real service area and follow Google's address rules for how you operate. Ask customers for honest feedback and respond helpfully to reviews. Google's local ranking guidance explains that relevance, distance and prominence matter; payment or a website project cannot secure a particular position.

Make the website easy to use and understand

  • Service pages: Give distinct services their own useful explanations. Add location pages only when they contain specific, relevant information about serving that area.
  • Page titles and headings: Describe the service plainly. Use words your customers use and keep each page focused on its purpose.
  • Mobile contact: Make the phone number, inquiry form and next step easy to find. Test the form and confirm that someone receives the message.
  • Performance: Check real pages on a phone, optimize large images and measure loading and interaction. A design approach alone does not establish a loading-time guarantee.
  • Crawlability: Use normal links between important pages, consistent canonical URLs and a sitemap containing the public pages you want indexed.

Structured data can describe your business and services, but it must agree with visible information. Add only details that are true. Google's SEO Starter Guide is a practical reference for these foundations.

What about GEO and AI search?

Generative engine optimization, often called GEO, concerns how content is understood and referenced by AI search tools. A useful starting point is to publish direct answers, clear service scope, consistent business information and sources for factual claims. Keep important information in readable page text so both visitors and search systems can find it.

Google says its AI Overviews and AI Mode use the same SEO foundations as Search. They do not require special AI files or a new schema type. A page must be indexed and eligible for a search snippet, and appearance is not guaranteed. See Google's guidance on AI features and websites.

Compare your own website with rank and rent

Your business website

Present your brand, services, work and customer experience. Customers can learn about the business and contact you directly. Plan ongoing content and maintenance around the way your business changes.

A separate lead-generation site

A rank-and-rent arrangement creates another inquiry channel for an agreed service and territory. Review who controls the site, where inquiries go, the exclusivity terms, cancellation and what reporting is included.

Normandin Systems' rank-and-rent service is CAD $500/month, with 0% commission on jobs you close and one partner per agreed niche and territory. Inquiries from that channel are routed to the partner. Rankings, a fixed lead count and sales are not guaranteed. The written agreement defines availability and scope.

Measure the result that matters to your business

Record a baseline before making changes: search impressions and clicks, completed inquiries, qualified leads and booked work. Keep paid advertising, organic search and other referrals distinguishable where possible. Review whether the inquiries fit your services and area, not just whether visits increased.
